Our Leadership Team
Appficiency, founded in the basement of his home in 2014 by CEO/Principal Johnny, has rapidly emerged as a leading software consulting company focused on building solutions for the NetSuite platform.
In a few short years, Appficiency has grown into a forward thinking global software and technology company. We take pride in connecting decision makers to a dynamic network of information and data, generating software solutions for Fortune 500 companies, and simplifying often complicated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for a multitude of industry verticals. We strive to change how companies around the world organize and regulate their businesses with innovative solutions and forward-thinking technologies.
Appficiency now boasts over 150 employees primarily based in North America and Asia. We have seen our company leadership further expand to include management and partners in regional and industry vertical specific practice areas.
The Team Behind Appficiency’s Talents
Johnny Than
As CEO and founder of a hyper-growth firm called appficiency, Johnny Than brings 30 years of corporate IT experience with significant amounts of networking and client applications to current business enterprise applications. He has consulted with over 300 clients, focusing on mid-market and Fortune 500.
Earning his MBA from McMaster University in Innovation and Strategic Marketing in 2001, he centralized his career primarily in education, retail, manufacturing and software development. At appficiency, he guided his company to conceive and lead strategic verticals in blue-chip companies such as Salesforce.com and NetSuite, where they have generated solutions for over 1,000+ clients and decision-makers. As a result of their hard work and proficiency, in 2019 appficiency was awarded the two highest NetSuite awards for North American Alliance Partnership.
John is married with children and resides in Toronto, Canada. During his free time, he enjoys keeping fit, playing video games, and listening to techno music.
Paul McDonagh
If you were to list all the qualities of focused and dedicated leadership, Paul McDonagh, Principal of US Operations, would tick all the boxes. He is the epitome of integrity, has an incredible ability to delegate, maintains gratitude and influence, and possesses great communication skills. Joining the fold in 2015, Paul currently lives in Denver, USA, but was born and raised in Ontario, Canada.
Knowing the in’s and out’s of the NetSuite platform like the back of his hand, Paul is the go-to source for trends and opportunities on the sales front. He leads and directs the sales team for appficiency, and is in charge of client and prospect interaction and procurement in not only the North American market, but his contributions are global as well. Additionally, Paul is instrumental in overseeing the company’s ongoing expansion efforts into emerging markets and is known for driving brand growth on a marketing level, maximizing global operational excellence, and delivering solid financial performance for appficiency as a whole.
Fortunate to live among the beautiful mountains of Colorado, Paul seeks out adventure whenever possible. He loves to do anything outdoors and is happy to ski, bike, hike and camp any time, any day.
Mike Diep
Mike Diep joined appficiency’s leadership team in 2018 and has quickly become a vital and key contributor to the everyday functioning and continuity of its operations. Currently serving as CFO, he has focused on global growth through platform, industry and geographical expansion. Over this period of time, Mike has been most grateful to witness a deliberate alignment in his personal core values with the company: eternal optimism and continuous learning.
Looking toward the future, Mike only sees positive outcomes for the appficiency family. He knows we will continue to focus on providing the best learning environment for all our team members so that they can further pursue whatever passions and opportunities are presented to them.
Morteza Hosseini
Morteza currently is located in our Toronto office, and leads our construction sector as Director of Delivery. Impressively, he has over 20 years of experience in IT and Construction industries, and 12 years of experience in teaching 50+ courses. He has successfully led the implementation of 350+ Construction ERP projects and trained 5000+ individuals in his years of service.
Carlos Palacio
Carlos is a seasoned leader with extensive experience in product teams and software/services product companies. He previously worked at the Maru Group, collaborating with the C-Suite to enhance the product vision, roadmap, and development. During his six-year tenure, he contributed significantly to the company’s growth, helping them increase revenue from $35M to $65M.
Carlos possesses a global perspective, having worked with diverse teams across three continents and managed hundreds of staff. His expertise spans technical, leadership, and planning aspects, enabling him to implement essential processes, structure, and go-to-market (GTM) strategies. He is available for consultation and advice for both Microsoft (MS) and NetSuite Business Units.
Currently residing in Washington DC, USA, Carlos is dedicated to his family, where he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons.
Ryan Baca
The best way to describe Ryan Baca is an undisputed leader. His ability to absorb challenges through intuitive listening and thoughtful analysis, and then apply his significant experience and body of learning to achieve successful outcomes is unmatched. Ryan loves to compete to win, especially if winning is possible for the entire supply chain.
His visionary perspective has earned him opportunities to work at a number of international leading edge companies such as Accenture, Molson Coors and Agile 1 before starting a multimillion dollar professional services firm. Ryan joined Appficiency as Associate Principal in 2020.
If his impressive business dossier wasn’t enough, Ryan also speaks English, Spanish and Italian. When not in the office, you will find him enjoying time with his wife Melissa and daughter Alexandra. He is an avid sports enthusiast, and enjoys the outdoors whenever he can.
Perihan Eid
Perihan Eid joined the Appficiency fold in July of 2021, and is a vital member of our Toronto office leading the Human Capital Management team. With more than 20 years of experience in Human Resources, Perihan has worked with local and multinational firms in Canada and the Middle East. She has a passion for building and developing strong teams that support organizations in reaching their goals.
Perihan actively influences organizational change, developing and implementing innovative strategies in support of Appfiency’s global teams. She has the ability to transcend conventional management practices, and generate immediate and long-term results to transform traditional HR ideologies into progressive,value-added organizational success.Top to bottom, she has been a major force in Appficiency’s culture, structure, and business alignment.
Anand Venkataswamy
Anand Venkataswamy joined the Appficiency family in 2015 as a Strategic Business Consultant. Quickly fitting in and adapting to Appficiency’s fast-paced working environment, Anand has proven to be an outstanding leader and professional, and has subsequently moved up to the role of Associate Principal in 5 short years. Technologically-savvy with solution-based thinking, Anand has always been up for the challenge when presented with complicated customer needs. His ability to breakdown and analyze complex NetSuite intricacies that can sometimes be problematic when customer facing, and present solutions that work smoothly and seamlessly are, by far, his greatest strengths.
Anand is currently located in Appficiency’s Global Headquarters in Toronto, Canada. When not fielding calls from some of our biggest clients, you will find him taking out some “me time” to detail his cars, dabbling in woodworking projects, and spending time with his family, while fully engrossed in Disney movies with his daughter. If that doesn’t keep one man busy enough, Anand is also a die-hard foodie, and maintains active involvement in his family’s thriving restaurant business in India.
Troy deBeauclair
Troy deBeauclair joined Appficiency in 2023. Troy embraces the challenge of leading teams within a global delivery organization. In his role he most enjoys the ability to learn and grow with resources both internally and externally.
Troy started his ERP career in 2008 with supply chain and a point of sales focus around stadium and arenas with venue management systems. In 2011 he moved to a more logistics focused organization and financial systems before landing within the Software Vertical of NetSuite Corporate in 2015. Since then he has grown through the Oracle | NetSuite acquisition and moved to a NetSuite Solution Partner in 2018 where he has been up until starting with Appficiency.
In his free time Troy spends time with his two children Emily and Connor, wife Kelly, and poodle Lucy doing various outdoor activities and sports.
Rupinder Dhillon
When did you join Appficiency?
I was already a huge fan of the company & the people prior to joining so when the opportunity came up to join Appficiency, it was impossible to refuse. Joined Appficiency in June 2022; however, been working with Appficiency since March 2017 as a customer. First met Johnny & Anand in the basement office and have been amazed at how quickly & successfully Appficiency has grown in such short time!
Why do you like working at Appficiency?
Appy supports a very collaborative, respectful, open and fun-loving culture that allows individuals to feel supported, engaged, and valued. Every voice is heard, every opinion counts, and best of all, if you need help there are plenty of people around to help in every way. Career development & continuous learning are part of day-to-day life and leadership team is extensively engaged in mentoring people & supporting their growth. I love working with a diverse group of clients with unique business requirements, ability to deliver solutions to their challenges gives a sense of achievement at the end of the day, that I value a lot.
What do you do in your spare time?
When not working I love spending time with my family, take road trips, long drives (have significantly reduced since COVID), and listening to Punjabi & Bollywood music.
Ishaan Battu
Ishaan joined Appficiency in April 2018. Prior to joining Appficiency, Ishaan was part of the NetSuite Professional Services team that helped clients transition from OMX (OrderMotion) to NetSuite, post the acquisition of the Order management Platform by NetSuite in 2016.
Ishaan started out with Appficiency as one of the first consultant within the AMPSS vertical, that focused on implementing NetSuite and designing custom solutions for clients within service industries such as Advertising, Media, Professional services and Software. He helped co-develop some of the industry leading solutions that Appficiency delivers to clients within the space and has over 30+ referenceable clients since 2018.
Ishaan is an avid photographer and freelance digital content creator that has been featured in local Toronto blogs such as BlogTo and Toronto Life. He is also passionate about health and fitness, and has in the past trained clients to achieve their fitness goals.

Jason Powers
Director of Customer Success
Jason Powers joined Appficiency in April 2021 with 13+ years of NetSuite ERP experience. Jason came to know Appficiency as a customer. He lead the organization as the NetSuite Administrator and Project Manager for a large Media and Publishing company working closely with the Appficiency Team to complete a very complex NetSuite Implementation with many customizations and enhancements.
Jason later joined Appficiency on the Sales Team with a secondary role of managing the Support and Services organization. Today, Jason oversee all client relationships and success while building the support practice.
In his free time, Jason enjoys reading, lifting weights, and carpentry.
Jason DeThomas
Director of Learning & Development
Jason DeThomas joined Appficiency in May 2017. Jason enjoys learning, designing solutions, and building teams to solve the most complex and interesting business problems. In 2017, Jason attained dual Masters in Business Administration and in Marketing, with a specialization in High-Tech and Entrepreneurial Marketing, from the University of Colorado, Denver.
Jason started out with the Global Delivery group, implementing NetSuite, designing custom solutions, creating training materials to improve efficiency, and developing the next generation of consultants. He has now transitioned to the Knowledge Management division to continue growing the people that make Appficiency excel.
In his free time Jason likes reading, camping, doing home projects with his fiancée, and playing with their puppies, Rebel and Remy.
Jacelyn Chan
Delivery Manager
Jace has been with Appficiency since 2022. During this time, she has worked with 22+ clients. Jace has managed full end-to-end implementations, integrations, customizations, and ongoing support for different industries.
Having a strong background in Project Management, she has been leading the Global Project Management Office (PMO) in Appficiency – striving to inculcate a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Jace holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration Major in Management, Ateneo de Naga University 2009.
Outside of work, you’ll find Jace spending time with her husband and 3 Beagles. She loves traveling – spontaneous road trips and eat out; but at the same time wouldn’t say no to just staying at home either to read a book, watch a good long movie or make scented candles.
Akram Bary
Senior Product Manager
Akram joined Appficiency in 2022, and he brings a wealth of expertise in Program and Project Management, Product Management, and IT Service Management to Appficiency, underpinned by a solid foundation in business administration. With over a decade of experience in IT and a strategic approach to finance and operations, he excels in steering projects to success and enhancing product value.
Akram has a passion aviation enthusiast, thrill-seeker through skydiving and scuba diving.
His pursuit of excellence is matched by his adventurous spirit, finding parallels between the precision of flying airplanes and the meticulous nature of managing cutting-edge technology projects.
Diana Alarcon
Director of Microsoft Business Unit
Diana is experienced in leading multifunctional teams across complex deliverables, timelines and breakthrough results. She understands systems, key stakeholder interests and can communicate effectively with technical partners. Her expertise in executive risk management and strategy execution is proven through her previous work experience launching several generations of new iPhones at Apple and managing global supply chains to deliver premium Gillette blades for razor production in factories across Europe, the Americas and Asia.
Diana is currently located in Miami, Florida and leads the expansion of appficiency’s Microsoft Business footprint through acquisitions and organic growth.
Isabella Olivares
Account Executive
Isabella (Bella) Olivares joined Appficiency in January 2020. Bella enjoys meeting new people and building relationships with potential partners. Her approach to sales is to understand our prospects’ business and IT goals to align the right team and solution for them. In 2022, Bella attained her Masters in Business Administration from the DeGroote School of Business. Before her MBA, she worked in the automotive manufacturing industry as a Mechanical Engineer.
Bella started out as an intern/co-op for our CFO & COO and worked in multiple areas of the organization, including PMO, HR, Operations, Strategy.
In her free time, Bella likes hiking, skiing, working out, reading, and watching shows with her husband and their black lab. She is also a former NCAA Division 1 swimmer and was on the Philippine National Team. Bella is a Toronto native but now resides on the west coast in Vancouver, BC.
Eric Ribeiro
Senior Solutions Architect
Eric Ribeiro joined Appficiency in July 2023. Eric has spent 10+ years in the Professional Services in a myriad of roles helping organizations use the best technologies to drive business growth. Starting out his career as an Accountant and transitioning through workforce management, operations management and working in enterprise software sales, Eric has seen the positive impact software can have for businesses.
With more than 4+ years of experience in enterprise software including domain exposure in the ERP space as well as the Business Spend Management space, Eric is focused on delivering the best solutions and enabling business leaders to gain value from the technology they invest in.
On a personal note, Eric is a Bostonian through and through. Eric is a die hard fan for all Boston sports teams, especially the Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins. His wife and son live north of Boston and when Eric is not focused on Appficiency, you’ll find him on a golf course or spending time traveling with his family.
Rafael Orozco
Solutions Architect
Rafael Orozco has been involved with implementing ERPs since 2011. He has primarily acted as a delivery implementation consultant, occupied with the day to day operations ranging from leading requirements gathering sessions to data migrations to writing up system customizations.
Since 2016, that implementation work has been spent solely on the NetSuite product and has included a half decade of work at Oracle NetSuite. In 2020, Rafael joined Appficiency and immediately started leading implementation projects as a Senior Consultant. In the last couple of years, he has moved over to the pre-sales side of the house where he leverages his experience to efficiently scope product and service needs on implementations, customizations and integrations.
Rafael has lived, studied and worked in Germany and Mexico and speaks fluent German and Spanish. Being an avid outdoorsman, Rafael can be found hiking, fishing, camping, off-roading and motorcycling during his free time. He is also a private pilot and enjoys flying his vintage Cessna. He serves as a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Tatsuya Kuji
Project Manager
Tatsuya Kuji joined Appficiency in 2023, managing the company’s first Japanese project.
He started his career as an accountant using SAP R3, and shifted to the IT side. He has been working in the ERP industry in APAC since 2013. He has experienced various roles such as pre-sales consultant, solution consultant, project leader and project management.
He is currently located in Thailand and Japan, and speaks both Japanese and Thai. He loves both indoor and outdoor bouldering, bringing climbing shoes everywhere he goes.
Linh Le
Program Lead – Sales & Marketing
Linh Le joined Appficiency in 2022. Linh started out as an Account Executive at Appficiency, building relationships and quarterbacking deals to the finish line. Before that, she was a consultant at Odoo, implementing the ERP system for clients in various industries. She has now transitioned to the Marketing Team to enable the Sales Team to sell without boundaries and manage programs cross-functionally.
In 2019, Linh obtained a dual Masters in International Business and in Business Analytics, from Hult International Business School in London, UK and San Francisco, CA. Before that, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a Minor in Management at the University of Ottawa.
Linh is based in Ottawa, Canada but has lived in Taiwan, the United Kingdom, San Francisco, and Toronto. She speaks French and Vietnamese.
In her free time, Linh likes travelling (44 countries and counting!), planning trips and looking for flight deals, reading, playing the piano, watching hockey, and trying new restaurants.
Ajay Paul Singh
Sales Operations Team Lead
Ajay Paul Singh joined Appficiency in April 2022. Ajay has 7+ years of Tech industry and Sales operations experience. He loves to learn and expand his capabilities. One to always volunteer and take on Pro Bono projects to gain exposure into new fields.
Ajay started out with the Sales Operations team, and has progressed to become the Team lead. Additionally he has taking on the Analytics role and expanded his skill set to encompass the new responsibilities. Ajay role also consists of working as part of the NSBU marketing team, where he is assisting with gathering information on client relationships and obtaining testimonials.
In his free time Ajay likes to play basketball, reading, travel around the world, mountain trekking as well going to the gym. He is also a big lovers of Museums and Art Galleries.
